Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson was born in Paris France to British parents Jacqueline Luesby and Chris Watson who were both lawyers. At the age of five years old, she moved to Oxfordshire and went to an Oxfordshire-based Dragon School. From the age of six Emma decided she would like to become an actress. Over some time she trained at the Oxford Branch of Stagecoach Theatre Arts a part-time theater school, where she learned the art of acting and dancing. At the age of 10 Emma was already taking part in numerous Stagecoach productions, as well as school plays. Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone was the film of 2001 version of J.K. Rowling's bestselling book was cast in 1999. Emma was discovered by casting agents through Emma's Oxford theatre instructor. David Heyman informed Emma, Daniel Radcliffe, and Rupert Grint of their auditions after eight. They were selected as three of the leads Hermione Gringer Harry Potter Ron Weasley. Emma's debut on the big screen in Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone, released in 2001. It broke all records in opening-day sales and opening-weekend takings as well as being the most-grossing feature of the year 2001. It was highly praised by experts, as was the performances of its three stars. The widely distributed British newspaper The Daily Telegraph called her acting performance as admirable.
